What’s the difference between pallet racking and warehouse shelving? Shelves are primarily for hand-stacked storage, meaning boxes, bins or individual items added by someone hand-loading onto shelves.
Pallet rack, on the other hand, is chiefly for pallet storage. Racks are typically loaded and unloaded using forklifts.
There are several different types of warehouse and industrial shelving available. There are two options that are prevalent in storage applications.
Boltless shelving (also called rivet shelving) is the the perfect heavy duty shelving option for industrial, wholesale, and retail applications where adaptability is a must. It’s easily assembled, disassembled and reconfigured without using any hardware.
Bulk rack is ideal for hand picking applications where you need sturdier support. Much like pallet rack, bulk rack components include steel frames, beams and deck supports. Assembling bulk rack is quite simple, with beams securely fitting into upright holes and deck supports fitting into beam slots to create a strong and rigid framework.
