Push back racking (also called pushback racking) is a pallet storage configuration that allows you to store pallets from 2 to 6 deep on both sides of an aisle. This allows higher storage density and helps you maximize the use of your warehouse space.
Pushback rack storage lanes are equipped with gently sloping rails and nesting carts that sit on top of them. When a front pallet is removed, the next pallet slides forward to the pick face on its cart via gravity. Pushback rack provides nearly the same density of a drive-in system without having forklift maneuvering in and out of the racking system.
Pushback rack can maximize your space utilization without inhibiting inventory rotation. It enables you to store more pallets in a single bay than selective rack, but gives you easier access versus drive-in racking.
